From Mind to Body

All emotions are first felt in the body! Annoyance, fear, love .. Hands sweat, legs shake, face flushes.“Body language” is one of the most powerful means of communication and proof that the mind-body connection is unbreakable. Our Mind sends impulse through the nervous system, so our bloodstream, our muscles respond according to the information sent. And everyone will agree!But if you state that the mind-body connection is a two way street, and that information sent from the body to the mind also has the same impact and the same power, to awaken, initiate, completely change the way we think, you enter the gray area. Despite all the distrustful views, I still boldly claim that the Movement is life changing and that the greatest benefit of exercise is not only the 3-4 hours spent in the gym or Pilates studio per week, but also the everyday habits that are inevitably changing by exercising.By strengthening the muscles, they become stronger, so they inform our minds that they can be counted on. We become aware of their strength and usethemfor support.When you bend down to pick up something from the floor, remember the Roll Up exercise from Pilates class and round your torso, squeezing your belly, lowering your upper body to the floor. Empower the body to become aware of everything you can do differently. Have your body direct the mind to change its movement pattern. The famous American psychiatrist Milton Erikson, with his anxiety patients, would recommend that they count all the antennas on their rooftops on the way to the doctor’s office to walk with straight backs and highly arched heads. He believed that proper posture was the fastest way to feel better, and every Pilates class begin with the instructions he would give to his patients: “Feel the entire surface of your feet on the floor and imagine a line down the middle of the body that extends and pulls your torso through the center of the crown toward the ceiling.” For every Pilates exercise such posture is necessary, and after an hour it is advisable to bring this elongation and openness with you. When the body already expresses our feelings and thoughts, use this opposite direction of influence. Let the new habits of keeping your body upright and strong reverses your mood, your movement and your thinking,
